After struggling with arthritic hip pain for far too long Professor Ibrahim Malek rescued me. I had a total left hip replacement at the end of October, and my word it is a game changer. I was extremely nervous about the surgery but felt totally safe under the care of Prof Malek. He came to see me the day after surgery . Taking a softly softly approach as advised by the physio has paid dividends. I can’t thank Prof Malek enough for ‘getting my life back. I really have a spring in my step now!!

My G.P. arranged a consultation with Prof. Malek earlier this year, to investigate chronic pain in the right hip. He quickly diagnosed wear to the joint and recommended a Total Hip Replacement (TRP). Prof. Malek consultation was both professional and reassuring, serving to lower my raised anxiety levels, elevated after hearing the term "elective surgery". A treatment plan was quickly arranged through his excellent secretary and scheduled for late in the year at The Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital. The operation was a complete success, with 95% mobility restored within 7 weeks of the operation. I would have no reservation in recommending Prof. Malek, his theatre surgical team, his administration staff, the NHS and the Nuffield Hospital staff for the pre and post operative care.

I was diagnosed with arthritis in the right hip joint 6 years ago, since then it has gradually deteriorated to a point where I was in pain every day. Professor Malek and his team at the Spire Hospital in Wrexham are amazing. I had a full hip replacement on the 4th of September 2021. I first saw Professor Malek for a consultation a few weeks previously who, after an xray during the consultation, diagnosed my hip osteoarthritis immediately. I had been suffering with groin pain for some years but it had got to the point where I couldn't walk or work. I was advised to have a full hip replacement. I was quite anxious about the operation but needn't have been. The whole team are very caring and calming. The spinal epidural is not painful at all and the operation took only 90 minutes. I was really well cared for by the ward doctor and the team of nurses after the operation. They are there for you constantly and I felt very safe and assured during my whole stay with them. I threw away my crutches exactly 4 weeks to the day of the operation and am now pain free and walking perfectly. My scar is less than 3 inches! Incredible! A hip replacement operation will give you your life back. Thank you to all the staff at the Spire Hospital, Wrexham.
